Lafayette Sheriff Investigates Subdivision Car Burglaries

Recent car burglary cases have involved apartment complexes. This case involves a large subdivision.

Lafayette Parish Sheriff's investigators say the suspect hit several cars in the Aurora Park subdivision off the Youngsville Highway.

Detectives right now are trying to determine the time frame in which the crimes occurred. That work includes getting information from the car owners on when they last drove or looked at their vehicles.

For now sheriff's officials say the crimes happened late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

Items were stolen from at least seven cars.  It appears the suspects went driveway to driveway targeting unlocked cars.

The items stolen include a hand gun and a lap top computer.

Law enforcement agencies always warn you to lock your car doors and keep valuables out of sight.  It doesn't appear those steps were taken by any of the victims.

If you have any information on this case you're urged to call Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
