The Iberia Parish Jail is a whole new place with a whole new set of rules according to Sheriff Louis Ackal.
Last Thursday a state team and the Sheriff conducted a major shakedown at the jail and found contraband including drugs, and shackles.
As a result, Ackal says the rules of the jail are changing beginning this week. “They hide contraband in all this bush and hair they wear, I can't shave their heads when they come in but I'll give them a normal hair cut”
Ackal says, all inmates will be required to shave their beards and get a hair cut regularly. Extra clothes will not be allowed in the cells. And loud noise will not tolerated.
