Homeowners in Maurice are getting news that's putting a smile on their faces for two reasons: more fire protection and more money in the bank.
Fire Chief Matthew Trahan says Maurice's fire rating has dropped from a four to a three. This means people can expect to pay less for insurance.
Chief Trahan says the rating drop is proof of how the town is growing and how officials are working to keep up.
“We have more extrication equipment. We have more bells and whistles on every truck that we own. Our call out times, our man power times, all included into that” says Trahan.
Chief Trahan says people can expect to start seeing cheaper bills next month.
