Dr. Arterburn is a native of St. Paul, Nebraska. He received his undergraduate degree from Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska. His Medical Degree was awarded from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1986. He completed his Internal Medicine degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1989. His fellowship in Gastroenterology was completed at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston in 1991. Dr. Arterburn joined the Gastroenterology Clinic of Acadiana in Lafayette in August, 2000, after practicing in Atlanta, Georgia previously. He became a partner in Saints Streets Endoscopy Center upon his relocation to Lafayette and the growth of his endoscopy practice is a contributory factor in the decision to construct and move into the new facility, Lafayette General Endoscopy Center, where the first patients were seen in July, 2009.
Dr. Arterburn's knowledge of the High Definition technology used in the new center and his results finding increased polyp detection with this equipment contributed to the research data collected in the center which turned into a research project and recent and publications regarding the study results.
