On April 20, 2011, at approximately 1:38 pm, Lafayette Police responded to 4310 Johnston Street regarding an armed robbery.  The suspect entered the bank through the front door and approached a teller.  He then produced a handgun and demanded cash.  The teller turned over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect exited the bank.  The suspect was last seen between two buildings east of the bank.  There were no injuries during the incident.

The suspect is described as a black male, 6'00″ 180 pounds, and thin build wearing black pants, a white t-shirt and dark sunglasses. 

Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department are asking anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspects to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.



Bank Robbery in Lafayette

Lafayette Police are hot on the trail of a gunman who held up a Hub City bank Wednesday afternoon.

It happened around 1:30 at a branch of Gulf Coast Bank on Johnston Street when a man walked into the bank and pulled a pistol on a teller and demanding money.  The teller complied and the suspect disappeared on foot.

This is a surveillance photo taken of the assailant inside the bank at the time of the robbery.

The suspect is described as a black male around six feet tall and weighing about 180 pounds.

He was last seen wearing black pants, a white t-shirt and dark sunglasses.
