The Gueydan Duck Festival hosted several free events Sunday afternoon including a duck calling contest, skeet shooting, live music and much more. Not only did the festival ring in duck hunting season, it also showcased the rich local culture. Artisans displayed their hand-crafted duck carvings, chefs whipped up their favorite duck delicacies and children and families reveled in the rides, fair games and face painting.
During the duck festival cook-off, professional and amateur chefs alike threw on an apron and got to work. Teams combined passion and perfected recipes while having a great time during the process. Even the pickiest of eaters, Madison Sauniur, the duck festival queen, was impressed with their offerings.
