Attempted Child Abduction

At approximately 7:40 this morning, Lafayette Police responded to the intersection of Pearl Street and Jolivet Street regarding an attempted child abduction.  The nine year old male victim told officers he was at the bus stop when a black Ford 4-door vehicle, occupied by three black men, drove up next to him.  The rear passenger exited the vehicle and struck the victim in the stomach area.  The juvenile was able to fight off the suspect and run home.  The suspect's vehicle fled the area.  The suspect that exited the vehicle is described as a black male in his 20″, approximately 5'6″ tall, thin build and dressed all in black.  The front passenger of the vehicle was a black male with dreads containing red tips, wearing all black.  The driver was a black male wearing all black and a ski mask.  The suspect's vehicle was a black Ford 4-door with tinted rear windows and large chrome wheels.  The partial license number is believed to be “???X541″.  Detectives with the Lafayette Police Department are encouraging anyone with information about the crime or the identity of the suspects to call the Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
