Road Closures

Iberia Parish Government would like to announce the closure of Hayes Road between Avery Island Rd. (Hwy. 329) and Lee Station Road on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 immediately until further notice. This closure is necessary due to the high water and the unsafe conditions of the road.  Iberia Parish Government apologizes for any inconvenience that this closure may cause, but the safety and well being of all residents of Iberia Parish and the surrounding communities are of our utmost importance. Effective immediately, La. 317 is closed in St. Mary Parish, from mile marker 0.0 to mile marker 4.0, due to high water. The road will be reopened as soon as the road condition improves.  Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route and avoid this area. Louisiana DOTD regrets any inconvenience this closure may cause and appreciates your patience.


Weather related road issues

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office has issued the following warning with regards to vehicular travel:

700 Block of Cocdril Road West of LA Hwy 93 (gravel portion) is impassable by passenger cars.

700 Block of Janvier Road has up to 6 inches covering the roadway:  Caution is advised.

Rue Novembre has patches with up to 6 inches of water in spots:   Caution is advised.

Gloria Switch Road at Janvier has standing water on the roadway.

 

All of these areas are in the extreme northwest corner of Lafayette Parish near the Acadia/St Landry border.  There are no reports of water in homes or vehicles stranded in high water at this time. 

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office stands ready to respond to all high water emergencies with additional staffing and high water vehicles prepositioned in low lying areas.
