The Lafayette Parish School Board has approved Superintendent Pat Cooper's reorganization plan.

According to Cooper, the plan focuses on changing responsibilities in the system's central office and will streamline duties, increase efficiency and free up money to spend at the school level.

Cooper says this will allow the system to spend an additional 2.6 million dollars in classrooms by eliminating duplication in the central office.

The school board approved the reform package with a 5-4 vote.
