Gov. Jindal signed bills that requires an ultrasound be performed 24 hours before an abortion rather than the two hours now in state law.
The bill would also require abortion providers to describe the results of that procedure to the woman and offer to let her hear the fetus' heartbeat.
It will also prohibit anyone who is not a physician from performing abortions.
The new restrictions add to requirements that are already considered some of the most stringent abortion regulations in the country.
