The Vermilion Parish School Board met tonight to discuss a number of proposals. Beginning next school year, students will have more fruits and vegetables on their plate.
The board approved raising the price of school lunches by twenty cents due to a federal government mandate that schools serve more fruits and vegetables. The cost comes out to $1.45 for elementary students and a $1.50 for high school students.
The board also approved to change the grading period from six 6 weeks to four 9 weeks.
