The campaign to help fill the funding gap left after budget cuts to CODOFIL is making progress. So far just over $22,000 has been raised.
In June Governor Jindal passed a budget that stripped $100,000 in funding from the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana, the state agency charged with French language educational and cultural economic development initiatives in Louisiana.
CODOFIL is legislatively mandated to drive francophone tourism through culture, education and international relations.
In effort to help raise funds, there will be a benefit held Sunday August 26th at Cochon restaurant in Lafayette beginning at 5:00 pm.
Lache Pas is a volunteer driven celebration of Cajun & Creole music and food and partners with Cochon Restaurant, Festival International, Festivals Acadiens et Creoles, Blackpot Festival, Louisiana Folk Roots, Blue Moon Saloon and Franco Jeune in organizing this event.
Bands performing at the event include Roddie Romero & the Hub City All Stars, Cory Ledet, Feu Follet, Zachary Richard, Geno Delafosse, Louie Michot and more.
Food from area restaurants will be available as well as LA 31 beer products. Entrance donation is $20 per person.
