One day after his resignation as Louisiana's Secretary of the Department of Natural Resources, Scott Angelle made it official: He's now a candidate for the District 2 seat on the Louisiana Public Service Commission.
Angelle stopped by TV 10 Studios today to discuss his plans for the campaign. He is a Republican and a native of Breaux Bridge, and has served as DNR Secretary for the past eight years.
Other candidates who have declared their intentions to run for the District 2 seat include Lafayette businessman Ed Roy and State Representative Erich Ponti of Baton Rouge.
Angelle sidestepped questions as to whether he was planning to follow in the footsteps of previous commissioners, including Huey Long, John McKeithen, and Kathleen Blanco, who have moved from the PSC to the Governor's Mansion.
Earlier this week, Angelle was appointed to the LSU Board of Supervisors.
