Louisiana National Guard’s New Director of the Joint Staff

PINEVILLE, La. (AP) – Brig. Gen. Barry D. Keeling has been promoted to the Louisiana National Guard's director of the joint staff. Keeling was promoted to the position during a ceremony Thursday at Camp Beauregard. Maj. Gen. Glenn H Curtis, the Louisiana guard's adjutant general, praised Keeling for his dedication to duty. Curtis says Keeling was relentless during the Guard's response to Hurricane Isaac. Keeling joined the Marine Corps in 1982 and joined the Louisiana guard in 1990. In his new post, Keeling serves as the chief adviser and principal assistant to the adjutant general. He is responsible for directing, supervising, training and coordinating the staff and assisting in the deployment and coordination of programs, policies and plans affecting more than 11,000 guard members.
