Administrators at Lafayette High School are urging students to remember the importance of safety when leaving the campus at the end of each school day.
Buses will now remain on campus the full seven minutes it takes students to get from school to their buses. Once buses are completely loaded they will depart from the school.
Students who drive or walk to and from school will only be allowed to leave after the buses have departed.
And those who walk will also be reminded they must utilize crosswalks and not j-walk across Congress Street.
Principal Doctor Patrick Leonard says these guidelines have always been in place. But following an accident earlier this month involving a student and bus the guidelines are now going to be more closely enforced.
