Free Tax Help from the United Way

You don't have to be a superhero (or even a tax expert!) to help the community.

Giving back can be as simple as volunteering to help at a Super Tax Day.

Super Tax Days are a part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, which assists taxpayers who are struggling to make ends meet by saving them the cost of tax preparation and helping them claim all earned income tax credits for which they are eligible. And United Way of Acadiana hopes to help as many taxpayers as possible during Super Tax Days.

There are three Super Tax Days planned for February:

  • Feb. 2 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lafayette Consolidated Government (111 Shirley Picard, Lafayette, LA)
  • Feb. 6 from 1-8 p.m. at the Clifton Chenier Center (220 W. Willow St., Lafayette, LA 70509)
  • Feb. 7 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at ASSIST Agency (2115 Charity St., Abbeville, LA 70510)

During last tax season, volunteers prepared more than 2,800 tax returns, resulting in $4.16 million in refunds. With your help, Super Tax Days will be a promising start to this tax season.

Greeters, processors, tax preparers and quality review volunteers are all needed for Super Tax Days. Each volunteer receives free training – and each volunteer makes a difference.

What to “save” someone's day (and save them some money with free tax preparation)? No superpowers needed – just sign up to be a Super Tax Day volunteer. Click here!
