Rayne Chief of Police Carroll Stelly announced that his department has worked with two local agencies in a joint investigation to solve a burglary that occurred in Vermillion Parish on January 29, 2013.
Rayne detectives received some initial information about the purchase of a stolen shotgun in Rayne and the investigation led to the Kaplan area where a hunting camp was burglarized and guns, fishing rods and TV's were stolen.
Working with detectives from the Vermillion Parish Sheriffs Office and the Acadia Parish Sheriffs Office, detectives arrested 4 men in connection with the burglary. The men were charged in Rayne with possession of stolen goods and were also charged in Vermillion Parish with Simple Burglary.
The four men arrested were 20 year old Dakota P. Broussard, 19 year old Justin Micheal Demette, 19 year old Tyler Edward Hazlett, and 20 year old Nathanial T. Harrison, all from Rayne.
Each suspects bond was set at $20,000 for the possession of stolen goods and $26,000 on the simple burglary
