Explosive Device Prompts Evacuation, Bayou Vista Man Arrested

According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert the Narcotics Division made the following arrests:

Darryl James Perry, Jr., 24, 303 David Rd. Bayou Vista, LA was arrested on April 4, 2013 at 7:56 pm for possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule III (steriods), possession of a Legend Drug without a prescription (Elavil), possession of drug paraphernalia, and manufacturing and possession of a bomb.

Detectives of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division conducted an investigation into illegal narcotics activity at the above listed residence. After receiving consent to search the residence, detectives located an improvised explosive device. The residence and surrounding homes were evacuated.

The Louisiana State Police Explosive Control Unit was contacted and the device was safely retrieved and removed. Continuing the search of the residence, detectives located marijuana, items of drug paraphernalia, Elavil pills, and steroids. Perry was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bond is set.
