NEW IBERIA, La. (AP) – The Iberia Parish School Board held a slightly more optimistic view of its fiscal status than it did in February after reviewing revenue figures for March.
The Advocate reports the school board was presented Wednesday with a side-by-side comparison of the months of March 2012 and March 2013. Board sales tax collections of $2.2 million for March 2013 are down 7.68 percent from the $2.4 million collected in March 2012. March 2012 sales tax collections, however, showed a 30 percent increase in collections compared with the $1.8 million in March 2011.
The sales tax collection totals are made up from several different income sources, including the 1/2-cent sales tax salary supplements and 3/4-cent sales tax salary supplements.
