NEW ORLEANS (AP) – New Orleans police say a 16-year-old boy has turned himself in in connection with a holdup in which the intended victim grabbed a robber's shotgun and chased him down a street near the French Quarter.
Officer Frank Robertson, a police spokesman, says the teenager had an attorney with him and will be booked with that holdup and two others within two blocks of it in the Faubourg (FOH-burg) Marigny (MEHR-uh-nee).
Robertson says he will be booked with armed robbery in all three. He says the charge in aborted holdup accuses him of taking a phone dropped by his would-be victim.
That holdup occurred about 5 a.m. Saturday. Police released surveillance video of it in hope someone would identify the gunman.
