LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) – A 32-year-old Lake Charles man who spent nearly a decade on the run pleaded guilty to cruelty to a juvenile.
Prosecutor Bobby Holmes said Joshua Banks was accused of scalding a baby's right leg in hot water in a pot on the stove in 2001.
Holmes says Banks, who lived with the child's mother, was charged with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile, but fled to California.
He returned to Lake Charles in 2011 and turned himself in.
Banks will spend three in prison, after the judge suspended five years of his eight year sentence.
