In his state of the economy address Thursday, Lafayette's Economic Development Authority President Gregg Gautreaux explained how and why the Lafayette economy has emerged as a national leader for communities of its size.
He stated that “our community is a top 10 community in almost every sense.” There was an abundance of good news which included the booming retail sales, low unemployment, and the per capita income is high averaging $44.000 for each person in 2011.
Lafayette emerged favorably in most areas, including vitality, labor force, affordability, tax climate and innovation. He concluded by stating.
“We can say we're the best community, but it's always special when people from elsewhere say it” said Gautreaux.
