Once inside, multiple gunshots were fired between the suspects and one of the residents, Joseph JeanLouis. JeanLouis was able to fatally wound one of the suspects. The deceased suspect has been identified as 43-year-old Spencer James Francis of Lafayette. His body, according to police was found outside of the home on the porch. The other suspect, according to eyewitnesses, fled in a light colored four door vehicle.
Police continued to investigate the scene into the late morning, and interviewed several neighbors. Although no motive has been officially released, JeanLouis was arrested and charged with the intent to distribute schedule 2 narcotics and possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Police said they have taken possession of JeanLouis firearm, but have no details on the suspects' weapons.
A description of the suspect at large has not been released, due to the fact he was masked at the time of the incident.
