St. Landry Parish School Board member, Quincy Richard, should be removed from office according to Judge James Doherty. The decision came today saying he is ineligible to hold office. As KLFY first reported Richard is a felon and did not wait the proper amount of time before holding public office.
In 2004, Richard pleaded guilty in connection with grade buying at Southern University. After his felony conviction, Richard was supposed to wait 15 years before holding office. Judge Doherty's ruling says he should be removed immediately.
Richard and board member John Miller are also facing federal bribery charges in relation to the St. Landry Parish Superintendent race. They are accused of trying to sell their votes. He appears in court on that charge on August 19.
