CADE, La. (AP) – Officials say an Amtrak train collided with a van and killed the woman driving the vehicle, which had stopped on the tracks at a railroad crossing near Lafayette.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari said none of the 125 passengers aboard the train were injured in the crash, which occurred just after noon on Wednesday in Cade. Magliari said a crew member apparently suffered a knee injury getting off the train after the collision.

The train, which had left New Orleans and was bound for Los Angeles, was expected to be delayed for several hours while officials inspected the train and awaited a replacement crew.

Louisiana State Police Trooper Stephen Hammons said the unidentified woman who died was the only occupant of the van, which caught fire after the crash.
