St. Landry School Board Member Quincy Richard is not present at Thursday's special meeting to discuss teacher pay raises.

The board's lawyer, Gerard Caswell, just announced he was immediately suspended without pay under state law after being convicted of three related but separate federal bribery charges this week. Caswell says the board has 20 days under state law to temporarily fill Richard's vacancy.

Caswell says Superintendent Edward Brown has indicted he would like to hold a vote for the interim position at their September meeting.
