19-year-old murder suspect, Seth Fontenot was back in court in Lafayette Thursday. Fontenot attended a pre-trial hearing after his attorney filed several motions in the past few months.

Fontenot is accused of killing 15-year-old Austin Rivault and injuring two other teens after shooting at their vehicle back in February. He was charged with first-degree murder in Rivault's death and two counts of first-degree attempted murder.

Fontenot's defense team filed a motion to suppress the statement Fontenot gave to Lafayette Police detectives the morning following the shooting. They say although Fontenot was read his Miranda rights, he was not fully aware he was a suspect in a homicide case during the time of questioning.

In fact, the defense said it was detectives who informed Fontenot someone died in the shooting—a fact they said Fontenot was shocked to learn.

Judge Kristian Earles ultimately denied to motion to throw out the recorded statement. A trial date has been set for November 12th.
