Event aimed at cleaning up the Bayou Teche

The Teche Project will hold an event later this month aimed at cleaning up the Bayou Teche.

The first Trash Bash and Boogie is a cleanup effort organized by the program Cajuns for Bayou Teche. The group's goal is to get the bayou looking her best for the many racers that come from all over the country for the annual Tour du Teche race. The Tour du Teche race is slated for October 4-6.

The Trash Bash and Boogie will begin at 9 a.m. at the Breaux Bridge Launch. Volunteers are needed and boats (motorized and non-motorized) are welcome. Extra boats and life vests will be on hand for folks to use. Bank side volunteers are also welcome.

The first 50 volunteers will receive a T-shirt and water will be provided. Cleanup volunteers will receive a complimentary lunch and drinks of choice. Grammy Nominated Pine Leaf Boys Trio will perform at 11:30 a.m.
