A woman was robbed after her vehicle was hit from behind when stopped at a traffic light on the Breaux Bridge Highway. The incident happened on September 28th at around 5:30 p.m.

Police say the woman was traveling east on Breaux Bridge Highway (Carmel Drive) and had stopped at the traffic light at Lake Martin Road when a vehicle struck her from behind.

The woman pulled to the side Lake Martin Road when a black male with a dark complexion with a receding hair-line in his mid-twenties to early-thirties approached her vehicle and asked if she was OK.

As the lady rolled her window down the male reached across her and grabbed a purse on the passenger seat, a struggle ensued and woman was pulled from her car onto the road.

The man over powered the woman and fled with her purse. The woman received minor injuries in the struggle.  The suspect fled the scene heading back towards Lafayette on Carmel Drive; the vehicle description is being withheld at this point.

On Monday October September 30th the purse was found not in the immediate area of the crime.
