BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) – State government offices will be closed Friday in several parishes where extreme cold and a mix of rain, sleet, snow and ice accumulation is possible as a blast of arctic air sweeps through Louisiana.

Commissioner of Administration Kristy Nichols said Thursday that state offices will close in: Acadia, Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jefferson Davis, Evangeline, Rapides, Vernon, Pointe Coupee, West Feliciana, West Baton Rouge, Iberville, St. Martin, St. Landry, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Mary, Vermilion, and Grant parishes.

In addition, classes are cancelled at McNeese State University in Lake Charles and Northwestern State University's campuses in Leesville and Fort Polk.

Nichols says state government employees can call 1-800-360-9660 or 225-342-0498 for updates on office closures.
