A flash farmers sale took place Thursday for a garden that didn't anticipate its first sale until late March.
The New Iberia Community Garden was created to bring the community together and raise the consciousness of healthy living and active lifestyles in Iberia Parish.
When we first visited the garden in early January, most of the pots were filled with only dirt and seeds.
After a little over 30 days of nurturing, the greenhouse has come to life.
“We didn't expect to have so much of an early harvest but we needed to get rid of all these early crops before they get spoiled so we decided to have this flask market stand and it's going really great.” said Phanat Xanamane with the Iberia Community Garden Co-op.
In addition to the arugula, radishes, mustard greens and spring lettuce- some community members have planted fruits and flowers for their own personal gardens at home.
