A Lafayette man is in jail for charges relating to the distribution of child pornography following an investigation by detectives with Louisiana State Police.

Earlier this month Detectives received information which indicated that 48-year-old Brien Whittle of Lafayette, was possibly in possession of child pornography.  During their investigation detectives learned that Whittle had also distributed videos depicting child pornography over the internet.  With the information they obtained, Detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for Whittle's residence in Lafayette.

Today, with the assistance of Lafayette Police Department and U.S. Homeland Security, Detectives served the search warrant at Whittle's home.  They seized various digital media storage devices containing over 100 videos depicting child pornography.  Detectives placed Whittle under arrest without incident for two counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.  He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.

This case remains under investigation.
