It appears a Lafayette Parish School System committee wants to stay put. The Employee Insurance Advisory Committee informed the school board Wednesday night they want to stay with Blue Cross Blue Shield next year.
Meaning they don't want to go through the process of looking at proposals from other health plan administrators.
They believe their time as a committee can be better spent strengthening their current plan with their current provider. Board member Shelton Cobb agrees.
“The board has to make a decision on whether or not they want to issue a new proposal request for proposals. I think the advice of the insurance committee should be heeded.” said Cobb.
Health care plans for the school district starts in January. Last year, the board waited until December to decide to stay with Blue Cross. But that was only after a big debate about choosing key benefits administrator.
