Students from Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee and Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa were honored in Opelousas Thursday for their work with “Hope for Opelousas.”
The students are on a mission trip spending their spring break working and beautifying the community while mentoring and serving the local area youth.
Northwestern college student, Isaiah Twitty, says he hopes to inspire the students to follow their dreams.
“Me growing up, I was in a similar situation as the kids. I was blessed and lucky enough to be able to get on the right track and just focus and have people in my life that inspired me to pursue my goals and my dreams so a lot of the kids, I see myself in them. I just wanna see them aspire and not give up the flight of their dreams.” said Twitty.
The students were honored with a lunch hosted by Chief Perry Gallow with the Opelousas Police Department and Mark Majors, owner of Med Express Ambulance Service.
This is the group's seventh trip to the Opelousas area.
