Federal investigators say they've busted a major international child porn ring with solid ties to Acadiana.

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson announced the arrests of more than a dozen men. Officials say eleven of the 14 people arrested are from Louisiana.

The network involved roughly 250 children in 39 states and five countries, with most of the children being boys between the ages of 13 and 15.

Authorities say the suspects ran a child pornography website. Kenneth Polite,  U.S. Attorney for Louisiana's Eastern District, says the investigation continues.

“In terms of rescuing potential victims, that is a process that is certainly underway both within the United States as well as abroad. And that work will certainly continue as we identify additional potential victims.”

Officials say the investigation disrupted a subscription-based website of more than 27,000 members who were involved in producing and distributing child pornography images.

The alleged leader of the operation admitted to creating multiple fake female personas to entice boys to produce sexually explicit images of themselves.
