UL students present park plans to St. Martinville officials

Architecture students from UL Lafayette presented their plans to develop a public park in St. Martinville.

The students presented design proposals to civic officials as part of a project related to their “Architecture 502 Urban Design Studio” course.

Students have been working with city officials and civic planners to develop the park at a three-acre site along the Bayou Teche. Thursday they presented three different proposals.

“They have to accommodate for the festival grounds that occur so those events will still be able to happen so they all have some sort of a large green space and smaller spaces of variations within that.” said Professor Ashlie Latiolais.

University officials say students are gaining valuable design knowledge and practical experience by working on the civic project.
