Washington Man arrested with 1,000 bags synthetic marijuana.

A Washington man is facing drug charges for being in possession of nearly 1,000 bags of synthetic marijuana.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Captain Megan Vizena stated, “Xavier Bush, Jr., was arrested on Monday after crime lab results indicated that out of his 986 packages of synthetic marijuana, 625 tested positive as a controlled dangerous substance. On March 18, 2014, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 190, west of Lawtell. After the driver gave the deputy consent to search the vehicle, 5 trash bags of various baggies were seized from the trunk of the vehicle. The evidence was sent to the crime lab for analysis.”

Vizena said, “These baggies are being sold under many names, including King Kong, Atomic Bomb, Klimax, Hello Kitty, Scuby Snax and others. All baggies are labeled, “not for human consumption.” These products contain dried, shredded plant material and chemicals that are responsible for their mind-altering effects. For several years, mixtures have been easy to purchase in head shops and gas stations. Because these chemicals have a high potential for abuse and no medical benefit, the Drug Enforcement Administration has designated the five active chemicals most frequently found in these baggies as Schedule I controlled substances, making it illegal to sell, buy, or possess them.”

“On March 26, 2014, we received results from the Acadiana Crime Lab indicating that Bush was in possession of a controlled dangerous substance. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was taken into custody with no incident on April 28, 2014,” Vizena added.

Xavier G. Bush, Jr., age 25, 1533 Hwy. 10, Washington was charged with improper display of license plate,2 counts of possession of schedule I drugs w/intent to distribute. He is currently being held at the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office with no bond.
