Officers responded to 241 East Oak Avenue after a 911 caller stated that a man was pouring gasoline onto the residence that was occupied by four individuals. The suspect set the house on fire and left the scene but the victims doused the flames before officers arrived. The first victim stated that the suspect, identified as John Bourque, was banging on the door and stated that he was looking for his girlfriend. When the first victim opened the door Bourque threw gasoline on him and tried to set him on fire. The victim pushed Bourque out of the residence and locked the door. The victims stated that Bourque then set the house on fire at the doorway then broke windows on the house before fleeing the scene. Bourque was located two blocks away by officers and was taken into custody. The red gasoline container was also located and seized as evidence.
Bourque appeared before 27th Judicial District Judge Donald Hebert this morning and bond was set at $502,500.00. He still incarcerated in the Eunice City Jail at this time.
