Here’s a library where a library card is useless and returning a book is an option. This is what Ville Platte calls it’s little free libraries.
The concept was introduced to Evangeline Parish by way of a support group called friends of the library. Parish Outreach Coordinator Suzy Lemoine built this little free library. Anyone can take a book, leave a book, read it or even pass it on. Lemoine says the concept is to give access to reading – making it a readily available option.
Woodcrafter Jessie muse is a friends of the library drafted volunteer. Muse says he’s been recruited by the mayor to build a few more little free libraries.
Lemoine explains world wide there are about 12 thousand little libraries. This one here is number 11,982. For more information you can find us on the map go to littlefreelibrary.org and you will see Ville Platte, Louisiana.
