St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mallet will host the 18th annual LaGrande Boucheire Creole De Mallet on the church grounds this weekend. Stop by the church between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, May 10 to enjoy great food, live music and lots of family-friendly fun.
Children’s activities include a fun jump, pony rides, a train game, a barrel ride and more. There will also be lots of home-cooked delicacies, such as pork stew, cracklins, boudin, barbecue, cakes and pies, and soft drinks. Buy a ticket for the raffle, and you could be a winner. First prize is $500, second prize is $200, and third prize is $100.
Two bands will perform, Jeffery Broussard and the Creole Playboys and JJ and the Zydeco Dog Pound. A DJ will also be on hand to spin your favorite tunes.
Everyone is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, but please leave the ice chests at home. St. Ann’s is located on Highway 190, west of Opelousas. Admission is free.
