Louisiana has 46 new state troopers and eight of those state troopers were assigned to Troop I, which increases troop I’s patrol personnel by 20%.
The Acadiana area is going to see an increase of troopers on the road which in turn will make it safer for everyone traveling through Louisiana. This was the first class of graduating state troopers since 2008.
In the last legislative session $5 million dollars was set-aside for the training of officers, because they were worried that too few officers were patrolling state highways. The ranks had dwindled from more than 1,500 in 2009 to fewer than 950.
