Late yesterday afternoon Lafayette City Marshal Deputies arrested one Jacoby Norris James Broussard on a Lafayette city court warrant for failure to appear for trial on an aggravated assault charge, in that he allegedly chased an 11 year old with a knife.

Today’s arrest took place in the 800 Block of Martin Luther King Drive. Broussard was also wanted on a state probation/parole warrant. He had been convicted of aggravated flight from an officer in the 15th Judicial District Court in Lafayette Parish and the court suspended the execution of sentence and placed Broussard on probation for a term of two years.

Broussard violated the conditions of his probation by failing to obey the instructions of the court and leaving the state without permission of the probation officer. A warrant was issued on march 11, 2013 with a bond of $250,000.00 set on this warrant

Broussard’s record dates back to 2007 on charges of failure to appear for revocation hearing on criminal charges of flight from an officer and drug possession.

He has been charged with disturbing the peace, resisting an officer and threatening a public official.
