Board policy requires members to review Matthews’ performance every semester, once in fall and again in spring.
The Courier reports school board members combined Matthews’ fall and spring results at their Wednesday meeting and discussed them with the superintendent in executive session.
When performing evaluations, board members look at the superintendent’s record, including how she manages the budget, the finances and employees. Matthews was also evaluated according to student test scores and performance.
While board members couldn’t talk about the board’s specific compliments or criticisms of Matthews because that is a personnel matter, board member Dennis Chiasson said Matthews always receives good marks.
