Two Suspects Arrested in Early Morning Shooting

Lafayette, LA—On June 14, 2014, at approximately 3:15 am, a Lafayette Police Officer was near the intersection of 8th Street and East Simcoe Street when he heard several gunshots in the area.  The officer observed a vehicle rapidly departing the area and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.  The vehicle was pursued by Lafayette Police until it stopped near the intersection of Sonny Street and Roy Street. Both suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot.  Officers apprehended both suspects a short time later, recovering a handgun and shotgun.

Lafayette Police were notified by a local hospital regarding the victim of a shooting in the area where police investigated the gunshots. The victim, a 26 year old male of Lafayette, was near the intersection of 8th Street and E. Simcoe Street when the suspects fired multiple shots in his direction.  The victim was struck in the left thigh and transported to an area hospital where he is listed in stable condition.

The two suspects in the vehicle, Elijah Jones (23) of Lafayette and Miles Boudreaux (22) of Lafayette, were arrested in connection with the shooting.  Jones was charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Flight from an Officer.  Boudreaux was charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Illegal Carrying of a Firearm and Resisting an Officer.  The shooting remains under investigation.
