A pair of officers with St. Landry Parish Animal Control have been arrested and charged with theft of dog food and cruelty to animals.

According to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, “Patricia Street Gallo and Troy Gallo, both of Opelousas, turned themselves in to the St. Landry Parish Jail on June 18 at approximately 8:00pm after warrants were issued for their arrest.”

Guidroz said, “An investigation was conducted after our office received complaints stating that animals were being kept in unhealthy conditions with no food or water.”

“Witness statements also revealed that Patricia Gallo, Animal Control Supervisor, was allegedly stealing dog food that was donated and meant for homeless pets.” Guidroz added.

Both Gallo and Gallo were booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail and released after posting $2,000 bond each.
