Blood Drives in Honor of Allen Bares Jr.

The Erath KC’s are dedicating their blood drive scheduled for Wednesday, June 25th to Allen Bares Jr., the off-duty sheriff’s deputy fatally shot on Monday, June 23rd .

Bares was a resident of Erath. The June 25 blood drive will take place from noon to 6 p.m. at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church Hall.Scheduled blood drives that will now be in honor of Bares Jr. include:

Wednesday, June 25-Erath KC’s @ Our Lady of Lourdes Church hall – 12noon-6pm

Friday, June 27 – Walmart Abbeville – 2:00 to 6:15 p.m.

Friday, June 27 – Stine’s Abbeville – 2:30 to 5 p.m.

Saturday, July 6 – Walmart Abbeville – 3:15 to 6:30 p.m.

Donors can also come donate the United Blood Services Center at 1503 Bertrand Drive and specify that their donation is in honor of Bares Jr.To sign up for one of these upcoming drives, go to http://www.bloodhero.com .

Donors can also go to http://www.unitedbloodservices.org the day of their donation and click on the “Health History Questionnaire”, make sure to print your “Fast track donation ticket” and bring it with you on the bus to save time, as well as lives. This allows donors to complete the interview portion of their donation on-line.

Donors can also fill out their “Health History Questionnaire” from their phone or tablet while they wait (not compatible with all devices).

Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height/weight requirements apply to donors 22 and younger, and donors who are 16 years of age must have signed permission from a parent or guardian. Donors receive a free cholesterol test.
