Lafayette Iberia Bank Robbery

Lafayette police are searching for a bank robbery suspect who disguised himself as a woman to hold up a downtown Lafayette bank Friday.

Here is a look at surveillance images of the suspect during the holdup. As you can see, the suspect is a black male, wearing a long black wig, white blouse, and long floral skirt.

The robbery happened around nine am Friday morning at the Iberia Bank branch at the corner of Johnston and Jefferson Street.

According to authorities, the suspect entered the bank, handed the teller a note demanding money and then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No one was injured during the holdup.

Morning Bank Robbery on Johnston Street

Lafayette, LA – On July 25, 2014, at approximately 9:00 am, Lafayette Police responded to the 1000 block of Johnston Street regarding a bank robbery.  Witnesses advised detectives that a black male wearing a long black wig, white blouse and long floral skirt entered the bank, approached the teller and handed her a note demanding money.  The suspect exited the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash and left the area.  There were no injuries reported.
 Lafayette Police are releasing these photos of the suspect that were obtained from video surveillance inside the bank.  Detectives are encouraging anyone with information about the robbery to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
