Over 150 educators gathered at South Louisiana Community College for Lafayette Parish School System’s teacher induction program. The induction is an orientation for teachers, giving them a firsthand look at the rules and regulations of the district. The induction is not only for first timers, but end of year hires as well as transfers from around the state.
The question is, will the new hires help to solve the shortage of educators in the parish?
“We’ve got some great teachers. I want the parents and community to know these aren’t the bottom of the barrel teachers, these are first class folks that are ready to who are excited to be here in Lafayette and want to teach their children” Says LPSS Superintendent Pat Cooper.
Teachers will be returning to the classroom, some for the first time on August 5th. Students won’t be too far behind as their first day will be August twelfth.
