Crowley police say the man killed in a officer involved shooting Monday afternoon on Crawford Avenue has been identified as fifty three year old Melvin Leblanc.
New information on the officer involved fatal shooting out of Crowley. Crowley Chief KP Gibson said the officers that were involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave. The shooting happened around one Monday afternoon on Crawford Avenue. According to state police, a man opened fire on law enforcement when the officers went to a home in response to a reported disturbance. Police then returned fire fatally shooting the man.
Shortly after 1:00 p.m.Monday afternoon State Police was contacted by Chief K.P. Gibson. He said officers went to a home on Crawford Street regarding a disturbance.When they got there, a male subject fired shots at officers. Crowley Police returned fire striking the suspect, fatally wounding him. Louisiana State Police have been notified and areconducting aninvestigation.
