We’re learning more about the man state police arrested Monday for attempting to buy a child to have sex with. According to the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office, who started the investigation, Ernest Kickel, Jr. approached a sheriff’s office informant for help with the purchase.
Sheriff Sam Craft says Kickel asked specifically for a 10-year-old girl. When he was arrested police seized his computer and cellphone. Sheriff Craft says Kickel doesn’t have a record. He says thankfully they caught him before he was able to get a child.
“He knew the informant just casually. Why he determined why he wanted to go into this conversation, I don’t know. I’m glad he did. I’m glad the informant brought it to our attention.”
Kickel has been booked into the Vernon Parish Jail. Bond is set at 1.5 million dollars.
